Power of women

David Gorospe

Art/Not Terminal Gallery's Subterranean Room Presents
A Solo Artist Show by David Gorospe
This show represents the contemporary beauty of women, the sensuality and the energy that it creates within fashion imagery. Beauty, the strength, independence, the attitude and fashion shown through a strong emphasis on body language. Fashion is all about finding your own style, look energy and fun! David's artwork simply tries to convey that same energy through body language, color, and fashion images.

This work will shout out at you or be subtle. Like fashion there are so many different looks and ways to approach it, but David chooses the contemporary images of today. The fascinating aspect of contemporary work is you will able to look back at my work years from now and see the style, times (era) and maybe even certain issues.

Gorospe's paintings try not to focus on a persons face primarily, like most fashion imagery mainly would. We put too much preconceived ideas on a piece when we see a face attached and the artist want them to focus on the pose and body language. There’s a feeling of anticipation and at times almost wanting to see more of the complete figure, but at the same time there is enough to draw you back into the piece to hold you there and to feel the mood and the energy without feeling too personal. This show like fashion is also about standing out and creating your own style.

Combining Gorospe's strong graphic, advertising and abstract painting background the artist believes it's only fitting to have a fusion of brushwork/pop/graphic style. Gorospe has created his own style and by no means is this main stream. This body of work by the artist will appeal both to men and women, but women will relate more to Gorospe's work simply by the fact that they mainly view and see fashion as part of their personality. Nonetheless, there should be plenty of feelings and interpretations to share.
