Klaire
Krueckert "Introspection/Exploration" |
Selbterkentnis ist der erste Schritt sur Besserung. This old German proverb, roughly translated to "Self knowledge is the first step toward betterment" has served as a fundamental facet of the works of Klaire Rueckert. Up to this point, her art has essentially served as an experimental playground for her own metacognitive facilities. A variety of media provide for her a process of contemplation, both of her self and the external world, leading to a collection of deeply personal works. As a woman self proclaimed to be devoid of verbal eloquence, she uses paints, tools, and personally evoked images to delve into the worlds of private self consciousness and metacognitive awareness. In doing so, she examines the problematic realm of phenomenal consciousness with its ineffable characteristics of qualia, as well as pushing her own insight well beyond its current constraints. In her recognition of the impact that others create in her own life, this show includes a select few other artists whose lives and works have been highly influential to her own. |
